Russell Brand gatecrashed an Indian wedding

British comedian Russell Brand stunned the guests when he gatecrashed an Indian wedding reception in London. The 35-year-old star slipped away from his stag party to spend half-an-hour at the wedding reception of a couple who had got married earlier that day.

Brand, who plans to marry pop star Katy Perry in India this month, stole the limelight as he danced excitedly and at one point even hoisted one excited youngster onto his shoulders. But his impromptu appearance left eclipsed bride Pardeep Gill and groom Sumeet less than impressed.

‘Russell completely took over and was dancing away at the reception. The groom wasn’t very happy about the fact that the spotlight had been taken away from him and his new bride,’ newsoftheworld.co.uk quoted a guest as saying.

The comedian joined in enthusiastically as DJ H from Kudos Music played a range of songs including traditional Bangra music. On Monday, Russell used his Twitter page to describe how much he had enjoyed the wedding reception but accepted the happy couple might have felt somewhat overshadowed.

Alongside a photograph of him being hoisted onto a guests’ shoulders, Russell tweeted: ‘The Hindu Bobby Moore. A perfect stag do finale – they think it’s all over – Hare Krishna.’ However, in a separate tweet, he wrote: ‘It was amazing!!!! Will the bride forgive me.’
