On Thursday evening, actors Neha Dhupia and Vinay Pathak allegedly skipped a charity event in the Capital they had promised to attend, in order to attend a party.
The NGO, Robin Raina Foundation, has claimed that the actors, in town to promote their film Pappu Can’t Dance Saala, were expected at PVR Saket at 4pm to distribute keys of free homes to the slum dwellers as a part of their Slum Home Project. However, they ditched it to shake a leg at a party at Hotel Crowne Plaza in Okhla.
“We signed on these actors for the event, but, I think they prioritised a dinner party over a charity event. It is their choice ... I don’t want to say anything negative about them,” says a disappointed Robin Raina, the founder of the project.
The event’s publicist Danny Singh shared a series of emails they had exchanged with the film’s production house. “We were asked to pay travel expenses of Rs 1.5 lakh, which we agreed to, but they did not show up,” he says.
However, the film’s director Saurabh Shukla says this event was never on the itinerary. “It is an absolute lie. We were never contacted for any charity event and took no money. We are strictly here for our film’s promotion and had no commitment with any NGO. We will sue them.”
