Demi Lovato recently made Hollywood news after she fired back at the rude Twitter haters who have been calling her fat following her appearance at the MTV VMAs. The “Skyscraper” singer took to Twitter and declared that she is “healthy and happy.”
Demi did look happy, healthy and gorgeous as she strutted her stuff at the MTV VMAs in her silver minidress. She was absolutely glowing. However, some fans did not agree. One in particular was not shy about giving her negative opinion on Demi’s body and tweeted,“@ddlovato ARMS WERE LOOKING A TAD BIT CHUNKY..”
Demi immediately replied,“I’ve gained weight. Get over it. That’s what happens when you get out of treatment for an eating disorder.”
Later, Demi took her response down and wrote,“Guess what, I’m healthy and happy, and if you’re hating on my weight you obviously aren’t. :) #UNBROKEN”
And, true to form, Demi’s fans—known as the “Lovatics”—came to her defense and immediately tweeted messages of love and support, making her a trending topic (again) on Twitter.
Demi really shouldn’t have to take all this criticism about her weight, especially while she’s still recovering from an eating disorder, and all the other issues that plagued her prior to her stint in rehab. Sure, we understand that people are entitled to their own opinions and they are free to express them however they want, but at the same time, people need to be a little more sensitive.
