A 90-second kiss...

The soon-to-be-released Dunno Y... Na Jaane Kyun, that is being touted as Zeenat Aman and Helen's comeback film, has a 90-second kiss between two actors. The filmmakers have already announced that this is Bollywood's answer to Brokeback Mountain.

The Censor Board is yet to pass the scene, but director Sanjay Sharma is confident that they will allow the kiss without any cuts. "It's not there just for sensationalism. It's an integral part of the story and aesthetically shot," he argues, adding that he doesn't fear backlash from the conservatives. When quizzed on the subject, actor Kapil Sharma says, "The film is a love story between two men. And that's why I'm being asked this question. It would have been okay if the kiss were between a man and a woman."

He continues, adding, "But hey, we are touching a serious issue like homosexuality and dealing with its repercussions. We wouldn't have done justice to the subject without showing some physical intimacy between the two lovers." When asked what it felt like to kiss a man and that too, for so long, Kapil says, "Well, it was different. I got cold feet just before the shot and even tried to fake it with camera angles.

But the direcor, Sanjay Sharma, told me it was not working and I had to make it look real. Then I gave it my best shot." Surprisingly, the name of the other actor who plays Sharma's lover in the film has been kept under wraps. The movie is set for an August release date.
