Vidya Balan was upset with Priyamani

Before Priyamani signed on the dotted line for ‘Raavan’, there were talks that cousins and    bollywood actress Vidya Balan wasn’t quite sure that Priya should take up this role as her debut in Bollywood. Vidya Balan suggested that Priyamani make her Hindi film debut with a full-fledged role instead of just a supporting role.

Priyamani who played Abhishek’s sister in ‘Raavana’ had a small role. It can be recalled that when Vidya Balan did Mani Ratnam’s ‘Guru’, the entire focus was on Abhishek and Aishwarya, and hence the length of her character is believed to have been chopped. According to a friend of Vidya, “She sensed the same problem with sister Priyamani thus thought ‘Raavan’ wont be a good launch for her in Hindi cinema.”

Now that ‘Raavan’ is released and Priyamani’s character has been appreciated by critics we hope sister Vidya is relieved.
