Aishwarya Rai slashes her acting fee

The film industry may have bounced back from recession, but the blockbusters are still hard to come by. Average hits apart, 2011 has yet to see a money minter. So quite understandably, the makers of Aishwarya Rai’s new starrer Heroine have set a pretty tight budget for the film.

Quite sportily, the film’s lead actors Aishwarya Rai and Arjun Rampal have agreed to slash down their acting fee but rather take a share in the film’s profits. Even Madhur Bhandarkar, the director, is learnt to be following suit.

This business model often suits the production houses because instead of paying inordinate amounts of money to filmstars, it’s better to give them a share when the film profits. And UTV, the makers of Heroine, have already had a good work relationship with both Bhandarkar and Ash.

Apparently, the entire team of Heroine is pretty confident that the film will be received well at box office. Perhaps that’s why no apprehension in taking a pay cut for a share in the profits.
